In looking at what buyers want here are a couple of trends we are seeing that people are wanting when building a new home in 2017.
Embracing the Outdoors
Homebuyers are looking for open space with functional outdoor entertaining areas. This is a trend that is becoming a must-have for buyers today. The great thing about building a new custom home is the ability to have that area built into the plans. Plans can have this feature in several ways, it can come in the form of a screened porch, an outdoor kitchen, and/or fireplace, a lanai, or even a patio that includes a pool. If the plans you have chosen do not have an outdoor space planned in, this is a chance your architect can make to ensure you are on board with this trend.
You can also bring the outside in, with features such as walls of glass, floor to ceiling windows, and open-air architecture. Talk to your builder to let them know what you are looking for so that they can help you incorporate the right elements into your dream home.
Technology
The integration of smart technology into new homes is becoming a top priority for many homebuyers. Newly constructed homes are focusing on having a central operating system that can easily be controlled by the homeowner. Many times, it can be controlled by apps on smartphones, or by one remote in the home. Homebuyers want high-tech features that are painless to use.
Functionality and simplicity are key when designing the technology in your new home, top of the line WiFi access, smart locks for keyless entry, cameras that allow you to see who is at your front door, the ability to control your home heating/cooling system from your smartphone. The possibilities are endless and should be coordinated when you are designing your plans to ensure every aspect of your high tech home is seamless.
