Frederick County is located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.  The main town is Winchester, a charming southern town.  There are many things to do in the area and thousands of visitors come to the area each year.  Whether you are a current resident of Fredrick County or just visiting. here are a some of the best things to see.

Old Town Winchester

Centuries old architecture, historical landmarks, delectable restaurants, museums and unique shops in pleasant walkable serene setting.  There is always something going on so check out their events schedule.

Apple Blossom Festival

Each spring the Apple Blossom Festival is a week-long series of over 40 events of parades, dances, band competitions, food, wine festivals, 10k race and much more.

Museum of the Shenandoah Valley

The Museum of the  houses over 11,000 pieces of fine and decorative art pieces.  With new exhibitions and events, there is always something to discover.

Stonewall Jackson's Headquarters

This National Historic Landmark, was used as headquarters by General “Stonewall” Thomas Jackson during the winter of 1861-1862 and contains the largest amount of Jackson Memorabilia.

George Washington's Office

George Washington used this building as an office from September 1755 to December of 1756 while Fort Loudoun was being built.  George Washington spent the early part of his adult life in Winchester, Va.

Winchester National Cemetery

The Winchester National Cemetery was officially dedicated in April of 1866 and used for burials of Union soldiers who fought and died during the Civil War.

Patsy Cline House

Dedicated to remembering Pasty Cline and preserve her legacy as a musical icon. She was best know for her popular hits “Crazy” and “I Fall to Pieces”.

Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum

The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum was created with the goal of providing the city of Winchester and the Frederick County area with a hands-on, interactive center for informal education.

Skyline Indie Film Festival

Skyline is a film festival that focuses on the exhibition and presentation of new, undistributed indie films.  Films are shown on big screens in several locations in Winchester for over the 4 day festival.

Shenandoah Valley Apple Harvest Fest

Blandy Experimental Farm/State Arboretum of Virginia

Rock Harbor Golf Course

Rock Harbor Golf Course offers thirty-six  uniquely designed golf holes with six sets of tees on each hole for the fun and challenge of all levels of player.  Nine pin placements on each green.

Rocking S Ranch

Located in the foothills and ridges of the Shenandoah Valley, the Rocking S Ranch offers trail rides, lessons, parties and quality horses for sale. Reservations are required, open 10 am until 6 pm.

Third Winchester Battlefield
